Home Business SuccessWhen I first came up with the idea for Thank You Ink, LLC, I had been looking for an opportunity to stay at home with my children and make some money at the same time. The idea just came to me one day while watching television. I say it was an idea from God's lips to my ears. The idea for sending out other people’s thank you cards was something that I had not heard of anyone else doing. The more that I started to look at my idea seriously the more I started to expand on the idea. I could be at home with my children ages at that time 5,3,2 and an infant. My 5 year old had been diagnosed with diabetes 2 years prior, and it became my passion to find a way to make money at home and care for my children. I bought a computer and had no idea what the start button was for, but I was determined to get my business going. So I taught myself how to use the computer. Then I taught myself how to design web sites. I had no talent for computers, but being my own teacher afforded me a flexible schedule. More than anything else in the world, I wanted to stay at home with my children. With a chronically ill child, they need constant care and no one would take care of my kids like me. I felt I had no choice but to keep going. I had no faith in my abilities but I had faith in God. Since we are a one family income with four wonderful children, I needed to make money to get my business going and keep it going. So I started to baby-sit two children ages 4 and 5. I had 6 children 6 years old and younger running around and I would try to work on the computer. I would sit and cry and take a break and go right back at it. It finally paid off. I really had no strategies other than; I had to convince myself that this is a useful service that people can really use. Then have the confidence to approach companies that I was offering this service and could I resell their products with my modifications. Thankfully most companies were excited about the idea and possibilities. Stick it out. It is so hard at first. You think that you’re never going to be able to do it. Then each small achievement you get excited. Then before you know it, that one step that you started with is now a trail, filled with firsts, accomplishments and pride. Pride in yourself for a job well done.

She also cares for her horse Buttercup, goats Nana, Spring, and Tonka, 3 dogs, several cats, chickens and Cornish hens. We have a new addition, Arnold the Pot Belly Pig. He turned out to be a she, so we changed her name to Arnolda. We have opened our home to farm animals (in Michigan) who need Sanctuary.
